PARK CITY, Utah --
Today The Creative Coalition
honored teachers who have made a difference by inspiring, at their annual Awards
Luncheon, held at the Easy Street cafe here.
Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. of MSNBC
moderated a panel that included Joyce Devlin, the Putney High School, Vermont
teacher of actor Tim Daly, co-President of the Coalition. Ms. Devlin
taught Mr. Daly almost 30 years ago and she helped push him to reach the
creative heights he now enjoys.
Actor Vilmer Valderrama got a boost from the recollections of Woodland Hills,
California's Taft High School teacher Edwin Tucker, who stated to a reporter
that the actor was auditioning for "That 70s Show" while he was in high school.
Mr. Tucker said he knew that Mr. Valderrama would amount to something very
special.
Other attendees at the luncheon included the actor Thomas Ian Nicholas, who will
be seen in U.S. theaters later this year (or right now at Sundance) in the film
"Please Give"; Emme, the pioneering
plus-size model and positivity activist; actor Kathryn Erbe (who is in the
current Sundance Premiere film "3 Backyards") and actor
Haley Ramm. of the Sundance film "Skateyard".
The Creative Coalition is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1989,
with a focus on educating its members on important public issues.
ING sponsored the luncheon.
