An edifying and fascinating documentary, Morgan Neville's dazzling, insightful "20 Feet From Stardom" illuminates the world of the backup singer, whose presence arguably has more importance than a lead singer's.  We see just how vital and valuable backups are.  We sense that they not only enrich the songs of the leads, they enrich their lives, and the live of those who listen to the songs.  A fantastic achievement, "20 Feet From Stardom" is filled with stories of triumph, heartbreak and lots of things I had never known about backup singers.  This near-perfect film was one of the most enjoyable and amazing experiences I had this year.

Released June 2013.  Rated PG-13.  One hour 54 minutes.  Distributor: RadiusTWC
