"Love, Gilda" Opens This Year's Tribeca Film Festival

"Love, Gilda", Lisa D'Apolito's documentary about the legendary comedian Gilda Radner, will open the 17th Annual Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from April 18th through April 29.

Ms. D'Apolito's documentary honors Ms. Radner using her own words from her personal diaries.  Numerous celebrities, including Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Cecily Strong, Chevy Chase, Bill Hader are interviewed for "Love, Gilda".  Some of these celebrities and others read Ms. Radner's words.

Gilda Radner was a memorable comedian on "Saturday Night Live" in the mid-1970s.  Her iconic characters on the show included Rosanne Roseannadanna.  Ms. Radner was a trailblazer for comedians across America and beyond.

"Love, Gilda" also features archival footage, audio tapes, home videos and much more.

"Gilda Radner was a powerful comedic force of nature who opened doors and thrilled audiences while becoming one of the most prolific comedians of a generation," said Jane Rosenthal, the co-founder and CEO of the Tribeca Film Festival, in part, in a statement.

"Love, Gilda" premieres on April 18 at the Tribeca Film Festival at Beacon Theatre in New York City.
