Clifton Collins Jr. and Zoe Saldana will be the recipients of the 2011 Midnight
Awards, to be presented by the
San Francisco Film Society at next week's
54th
S.F. International Film Festival, which runs from April 21-May 5.
The
W San Francisco hotel will be the scene for the
San Francisco International Film Festival 2011 Midnight Awards presentation next
Saturday night (April 23) at 10:30p.m. Each year an actor and actress are
honored for the Festival award. The Midnight Awards, which the S.F. Film
Society created in 2007, celebrate young actors' contributions to both Hollywood
and independent cinema and depth of talent, creativity and wisdom in their
performances.
Zoe Saldana, who has appeared in such films as
"Avatar",
"Star Trek"
and "The Losers" among others, was announced last week as a recipient. Mr.
Collins, whose career has included such films as "187", "Capote",
"Sunshine
Cleaning" and
"The Perfect Game", was announced last night as
a Midnight Awards recipient by the S.F. Film Society.
Prior to the awards presentations clips from both actors' films will be shown.
Ms. Saldana and Mr. Collins will be interviewed on stage by New York Times
best-selling author Beth Lisick.
In the past the S.F. Film Society Midnight Awards have honored the actors Evan
Rachel Wood and Elijah Wood, Rose McGowan and Jason Lee, and, in the inaugural
Awards in 2007, Rosario Dawson and Sam Rockwell.
