Tom Cruise will star in "Mission: Impossible 4",
Paramount Pictures announced today.
Mr. Cruise, who will next appear on the silver screen this summer with Cameron
Diaz in "Knight And Day", will also produce the fourth film, to be released on
Memorial Day weekend next year. J.J. Abrams, who directed Mr. Cruise in
"Mission: Impossible III", will also produce the film
in conjunction with his company Bad Robot Productions.
Said Paramount Chairman and CEO Brad Grey in a statement: "Tom and J.J. are
great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this
legendary franchise."
A director is not yet attached to "Mission: Impossible 4" but the search for one
is underway. Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have been hired to write the
"Mission" screenplay.
Mr. Abrams last directed "Star Trek", which was
released in May 2009. His
"Lost"
television series is in its final season and can be seen on
ABC.
