Here are just some of the theatrical film releases opening this week in the U.S.:
BIG MIRACLE - Ken Kwapis directs Drew Barrymore and John
Krasinski in a film about a Greenpeace volunteer recruited by a
journalist-reporter to save whales from being trapped in the Arctic Circles icy
enclaves. Opens nationwide on Friday.
CHRONICLE - High school trio stumble upon a wild
discovery and gain superpowers as a result. It's all fun and games when
the powers are tested, until things go too far. Josh Trank's
horror-thriller stars Michael B. Jordan and Michael Kelly. Opens nationwide on Friday.
THE INNKEEPER - Old guests check in, and the
horror begins, as two hotel employees suspicious of their surroundings and the
place they work in, try to uncover the true nature of their work place. With
Kelly McGillis, Sara Paxton, Pat Healy. Horror-thriller, directed by Ti
West. Opens nationwide on Friday.
KILL LIST - Hit man who botched an assignment a year
prior, is promised a big payoff if he can kill three targets. Easy enough?
Think again. Ben Wheatley's film stars Neil Maskell, MyAnna Buring and
Harry Simpson. Yet another horror-thriller, directed by James Watkins. Opens
in limited release on Friday.

Madonna's second directing effort, this time about the
scandalous and notorious affair between Prince Edward and Nazi sympathizer
Wallis Simpson. The romantic drama also has a contemporary love affair as
a parallel story. With
Andrea Riseborough, James D'Arcy, Abbie Cornish, Oscar Isaac.
Limited release on Friday.
WINDFALL

Laura Israel's documentary explores the not-so great side
of wind energy, and the consequences it brings to an upstate New York town.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK
- Daniel Radcliffe as a lawyer in the 19th
century, trying to take care of some paperwork of a deceased woman, and getting
in over his head with a woman in black who haunts a house he's working in. With
Ciaran Hinds and "Albert Nobbs" Oscar nominee Janet McTeer.
Horror-thriller, directed by James Watkins. Opens nationwide on Friday.
