Here are just some of the theatrical film releases opening this Friday in the U.S.:


LOLA VERSUS
- Greta Gerwig, last seen in a lead role in April's "Damsel In Distress", has the stage largely to herself in Daryl Wein's comedy about a woman approaching 30 who has been "dumped" by her fiancé just days before their wedding.  Expands its limited release.


PEACE, LOVE & MISUNDERSTANDING
- Bruce Beresford ("Driving Miss Daisy") directs the comedy-drama about a conservative Manhattan lawyer who takes her two children upstate to see her estranged hippie mother for a few days in the summer.  With Jane Fonda, Catherine Keener, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Elizabeth Olsen, Nat Wolff, Kyle McLachlan.   Expands its limited release.  Read review


ROCK OF AGES
- On the big screen comes the hit Broadway musical about a Sunset Strip nightclub under siege in 1987 by a religious group protesting rock bands playing there.  Adam Shankman ("Hairspray") directs the comedy-drama-romance musical for the screen.  With Alec Baldwin, Julianne ("Footloose") Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Malin Akerman, Paul Giamatti and Tom Cruise.  Nationwide. 


SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED
- An ad seeking a time-traveling companion is placed in the classified section of a magazine, whose trio of employees respond and venture into all kinds of unpredictable waters.  Colin Trevorrow directs Mark Duplass, Aubrey Plaza among others in this comedy.  Expands its limited release. 


THAT'S MY BOY - Sean Anders directs Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg in a comedy about a father and son who haven't seen each other for years, who reunite.  Havoc ensues.  With Susan Sarandon and Leighton Meester.  Nationwide.


THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH - Ethan Hawke and the ever-busy Kristin Scott Thomas star in a thriller about an embattled college professor in Paris who meets a woman who may have a deadly criminal background.  Pawel Pawlikowski directs the film, set in Paris.  Limited release.


YOUR SISTER'S SISTER - After the death of his best buddy, and a solid friendship with his late friend's sister, a man finds himself entangled with the sister's estranged sister.  It's complicated, and funny.  Lynn Shelton ("Humpday") directs the comedy-romance-drama.  With Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt and that man Mark Duplass, who truly is everywhere these days.  He co-directed "Jeff, Who Lives At Home", is currently on screen in "Safety Not Guaranteed" and has a small role in the upcoming "People Like Us".  Limited release.
