A mature, intelligent film for adults, "The Visitor" is an authentic story about
a widower who has literally lost his own sense of purpose. Floating
through midlife, the wifeless professor from Connecticut makes a trip to New
York City where he sees two squatters, one from Syria, the other from Senegal.
From this point, the professor's life changes forever, as do the lives of the
two squatters. Well-acted by Richard Jenkins as the widower professor, in
an award-nomination worthy performance, and good acting from Haas Sleiman as
Tarek, Danai Gurira as Zainab, and Hiam Abbas as Tarek's mother. The most
unpretentious film of the year.
